GMNL is conscious of the need to remain a good corporate citizen. As a local assembler of vehicles we provide employment for over 1000 Nigerians directly in our facilities and indirectly through our dealerships and suppliers spread all over the country.

As part of our local Content development Programme, we work in partnership with local manufacturers for development and supply of such components and parts like tyres, glasses, steel plates, paints, etc. for our vehicles.

Our range of vehicles are chosen with care, ensuring that they meet international environmental standards. GM Nigeria Limited will continuously review our Social Responsibility policy so as to remain relevant and impact positively on our local environment.

Under the UACN Company’s Higher Education Scholarship Scheme, thirty open scholarships are awarded annually to students attending Nigerian Universities and to children of UACN employees. Beneficiaries of the scholarships are in no way bonded to the Company.

Furthermore, the Company offers vacation jobs and industrial attachments to students in higher institutions of learning, enabling them to obtain practical experience in a wide range of business and technical skills.

UACN Plc also has a Secondary School Scholarship Scheme, introduced in 1948, which is open to children of both serving and retired staff of the Company and its subsidiaries. Today, thirty of such awards are made annually.
